James DeLaughter was the son of George (and younger brother to GeorgeW.oNOTE CONC f the Edgefield Dist. SC lineage) and was born in Edgefield Dist., SC
probablNOTE CONC y in 1765-66. He married Francis Tillman in 1787. From 1787until
after 1811 hNOTE CONC e occupied about 700 acres of family land along the Savannah
River at the forNOTE CONC k of Steven's Creek.He and his family moved to
Mississippi near the LouisianaNOTE CONC line. The family lands were in Amite
County, just west of the present McCombNOTE CONC , and later east and north of that
area in the present Pike and Lincoln CountNOTE CONC ies,MS; and some decendants
moved south into bordering Louisiana parishes. JaNOTE CONC mes lived in Pike
County,MS. until his death in the 1840's. It is not known wNOTE CONC here he was
burried.----------------------------
